- Chapter News -
Last year the Toledo Chapter
donated $5000 in scholarships to outstanding
college students who were pursuing careers in the foundry industry. The
scholarships were in the form of donations to the
Foundry Education
Foundation, as well as three
Chapter Scholarship funds.
In June of 2001, the Toledo
chapter also sponsored three area high school
students which attended a 5 day program at Western Michigan University.
This
program was created by Associate & FEF Key Professor, Dr. Sam Ramrattan,
with the intent to show young students career oppotunities within the cast
metal
industry and spark their interest in pursuing such careers.
The Toledo Chapter also
donated a new heat jacket to be used at the Casting lab
at Tri-State University.
The Chapter feels strongly
about supporting young individuals as they pursue
academics and begin making decisions about their careers. Hopefully,
through
continual involvement, more and more of these young, bright individuals
will
choose the metal casting industry.
